Travel Guard offers emergency assistance, specifically for Repatriation and/or Medical Evacuation. There are five plans available under Travel Guard Single Trip policies which are Silver, Silver Plus, Gold, Platinum and the Senior Plan. These include Silver, Silver Plus, Gold, Platinum and the Senior Plan. Also, customers have 2 further options to choose from under an Annual Multi Trip program, where they can choose between an Annual Multi Trip Gold and Platinum Plans.
    • Travel Guard Assist – Travelling overseas is an exciting experience, but also one that may pose some risks.     • Renewable For Life – Being a frequent traveler, getting your travel insurance policy renewed can be nothing short of annoying. Now, customers holding an annual Multi Trip policy have the option of getting their policy renewed for life.
    • Free Look & Grace Period – Customers holding an Annual Multi Trip policy can avail a Free Look period of 15 days to see whether the policy is befitting their requirements. Also, for payment of premiums, customers will be allowed a grace period of 30 days (applicable to new businesses who have taken a annual multi trip).
    • Enhancement of Sum Insured – To increase the protection provided by your policy, you have the option of enhancing your Sum Insured amount at the time of renewing your policy.     Student Travel Insurance - Student Guard:

    The Tata AIG Student Guard is a travel insurance policy specially designed for students who are journeying overseas for higher education. To provide comprehensive cover, this policy offers a number of covers like Personal Accident Cover, Study Interruption, Sponsor Protection, Accident & Sickness Reimbursement and Two-way compassionate visit of family members.

    • Multiple Plan Option – Students can choose from a variety of plans which include Plan A, Plan B, Ultimate, Ultimate Plus and Supreme. The plans come with Accident & Sickness Medical Expenses Reimbursement limits of $50,000, $100,000, $250,000, $500,000 and $500,000 respectively.

    • Emergency Medical Evacuation – Insured will be provided medical evacuation to the closest medical center or back to India for emergency medical treatment. The severity of the Sickness or Injury for which evacuation is being carried out must be certified by a qualified physician who is treating the insured for the said injury or sickness.
    • Continuing Treatment – Cover is provided for continuing the treatment for which the insured had been repatriated to his/her native country.
    • Repatriation of Remains – In the event of the death of the insured, the policy will cover the cost of repatriation of the mortal remains of the insured back to India.
    • Baggage Loss – The insured is covered against the permanent loss of their checked-in baggage, being handled by a common carrier which has misdirected the delivery of the luggage at the specified destination, resulting in it’s permanent loss or due to theft.
    • Baggage Delay – The policy covers the insured against any delay in delivery of their checked-in baggage while travelling on a common carrier. Reimbursement will be provided towards the loss of necessary personal effects.
    • Loss of Passport – In case the insured has lost their passport during their stay overseas, the policy shall cover the costs incurred towards obtaining a new or duplicate passport.
    • Personal Liability – Policy provides coverage for any damages arising due to claims which have been filed against the insured for causing any damage to property or medical expenses which have arisen due to bodily injury being caused by the insured following an accident.
    • Study Interruption – Student Guard policy will reimburse the insured for tuition fees in case the insured has suffered from any of the following conditions, due to which they are unable to continue or complete their studies, tuition for the remainder of which has already been paid.

    Tata AIG presents a variety of travel insurance policies to help facilitate stress free travel, be it within India or overseas. These comprehensive travel insurance policies are designed to address the travel needs of different individuals travelling to different global destinations. In order to be better informed about what these policies offer, it would be helpful to also know about the exclusions these policies carry. Here is a brief list of exclusions common to all travel insurance policies offered by Tata AIG. This policy shall not cover you for any expense incurred, directly or indirectly, due to the following reasons:

    Tata AIG Travel Insurance Claim Process:

    • In order to register your claim, you have to email customer support or call the local/international helpline numbers. General step by step claims procedure is as follows:
    • Inform the company immediately, through Phone, SMS, Letter, Email, etc. and get the claim registration number
    • Submit the required list of documents as well as the duly filled claim form, to the company
    • Answer any queries posed by the insurance company in relation to the incident
    • Suggest a convenient mode of receiving payment

    Documents Required for TATA AIG Travel Insurance:

    • Original bills and vouchers.
    • All Prescriptions/ Bills/ vouchers/ reports/ discharge summary, etc. must contain the name of the treated person, the type of illness, details of the each item of medical treatment provided and the dates of treatment.
    • Prescriptions must clearly state the prescribed medicines, its price and the receipt stamp of the pharmacy as well. In the case of a dental treatment, the bills/ reports must provide the details of the treatment performed as well as the treated tooth.
    • In order to reimburse the cost of transporting the mortal remains of the insured to India or the extra costs incurred for burial abroad, an official death certificate and a physician's statement must be provided, stating the cause of death.
    • In order to reimburse the cost of transportation of the Insured Person to India due to ill health, a medical statement should be provided, that indicates the cause of illness and the necessity of the transportation. Medical statements have to be made by a recognized medical practitioner and not by relatives or spouses.
    • A Property Irregularity Report or other report issued by the carriers in the event of loss of baggage should be submitted if you are registering a claim for loss of baggage.
    • For availing the personal liability cover, the insured has to submit a proof of the judicial decision that has been rendered by a court of law.
    • In order to avail Personal Accident cover, all vouchers/ bills/ reports or discharge summary, First Information Report, Death Certificate, Legal Heir Certificate, Post Mortem Report and/or other related documents as applicable, have to be submitted.
    • Any other relevant document(s) as requested by the company in order to process the claim, has to be submitted by the Insured Person.

    Tata AIG Travel Insurance Policy Covers:

    Overseas Travel Insurance

    Covers loss of baggage or delays in receiving baggage, medical expenses, loss/ replacement of passport, etc.

    Domestic Travel Insurance

    Covers accommodation charges arising out of trip delay, missed flight departure, reimbursement of lost ticket (reimbursement of original ticket charges that are applicable to common carriers such as Air/ Rail), coverage in the event of dismemberment or accidental death and so on.

    TATA AIG Travel Insurance FAQs:

    1. What is the validity period of the policy?

      The travel insurance policy is valid for the entire duration of the Insurance Period i.e. the period for which the premium has been paid or when the policyholder disembarks upon his/her return to India.

    2. When does the cover commence?

      The Insurance cover will be in effect from the day specified in the Policy Schedule or when the policyholder embarks on his/her journey overseas or on the date of the Contracted Departure, whichever is later.

    3. Can my policy be extended?

      In case the policyholder’s stay overseas is extended for reasons beyond his/her control, the policy can be extended with the approval of the insurance company, once the required additional premium is collected.

    4. If I don't need the travel insurance policy, can I get it cancelled?

      Yes. The travel insurance policy can be cancelled, only if the policyholder has not undertaken the journey as expected. To prove this, he/she has to submit a copy of his/her valid passport. A request for policy cancellation is accepted by the company for up to 14 days after the first date of commencement of the insurance policy as specified in the policy schedule. In the event of policy cancellation, a specified amount will be deducted from the refundable amount, as administration charges.

    5. What should I do if I meet with an accident overseas?

      In case of any emergency such as an accident, wherein you might require emergency medical care or assistance, you should contact the Alarm Centre or assistance centers set up for this specific purpose, describing the necessary details.

    6. If I go abroad specifically for the purpose of availing medical treatment, would I be reimbursed for the medical expenses incurred?

      No. The travel insurance policy only covers you for accidents or illnesses which occurs unintentionally and unexpectedly whilst you are abroad.

    7. Can I cancel my policy midway?

      Yes, the policyholder can cancel the insurance policy if he/she wishes to do so.
