    New India Mediclaim 2012 policy has been issued by New India Assurance Co. Ltd which covers the hospitalisation expenses of the insured for any illness and injury in the period of insurance. The policy term is 1 year. There is no age limit set for it renewal. With this health insurance policy you can avail bonus, discounts and tax benefits. Sum assured ranges from Rs.3 lakh to Rs.5 lakh.

    Age limit for renewal There is no age limit for renewal, the policy has to be renewed within 30 days from the date of expiry.

    Entry load
    • There is no entry load for persons up to the ages of 45.
    • For people from the age of 45-50 years will have Rs.1,000 entry load towards sum assured ranging from Rs.3 lakh to Rs.5 lakh and Rs.2,000 for sum assured over Rs.5 lakh.
    • For people from the age of 51-55 years will have Rs.1,000 entry load towards sum assured up to Rs.3 lakh, Rs.2,000 for sum assured ranging from Rs.3 lakh to Rs.5 lakh and Rs.4,000 for sum assured over Rs.5 lakh.
    • For people from the age of 61-65 years will have Rs.2,000 entry load towards sum assured up to Rs.3 lakh.
    Reimbursement
    • Room rent: Not exceeding 1% of the sum insured per day
    • ICU Expenses: 2% of the sum insured per day
    • Surgeon, anaesthetist, medical practitioner and consultants specialist fees
    • Other medical expenses related to the treatment.
    • Pre-hospitalization medical expenses: Maximum up to 30 days
    • Post-hospitalization medical expenses: Maximum up to 60 days
    Cumulative bonus buffer The cumulative bonus earned in the previous years will be available as cumulative bonus buffer for the current policy.
    Cancellation The policy can be cancelled on the grounds of misrepresentation, fraud, non-disclosure, etc. The premium will be refunded and the rate of premium to be charged is as follows:
    Risk period Rate of premium to be charged
    Up to 1 month 1/4th of the annual rate
    Up to 3 months Half of the annual rate
    Up to 6 months 3/4th of the annual rate
    Exceeding 6 months Full annual rate
    Free look period You can return the policy in within 15 days from the date of receipt of the policy.
    Claim The insurer can settle the claim within 30 days from the receipt of the necessary documents.
    Discount If there has been no claims, you will get the following discounts:

    Less than or equal to 60 years Discount per year 2% Discount per year 3%

    Tax benefits Payments made towards this policy in any mode other than cash is eligible for deduction from taxable income under section 80D of the Income Tax Act.
