Sending a written request to cancel Citibank credit card: Citibank customers can also raise a written request for cancellation of Citibank credit card. The written request must include the cardholder’s name, contact details, credit card type and number. There is no need to mention any sort of sensitive details such as CVV, card PIN or expiry date. Things To Know Before Closing A Citibank Credit Card
There are a few things every credit card holder needs to know before raising a request for cancelling a Citibank credit card. Implementing whichever is applicable will help them have a smoother separation from the bank.
Once Citibank receives a request for credit card cancellation or closure, it will convert the entire outstanding due on the card, pending loans, EMI facilities, balance transfers and any other charges into due. Until and unless the cardholder clears all the pending dues, the credit card account will not be closed. As per the credit card cancellation terms and conditions, as soon as the card member applies for card cancellation he/she agrees to immediately pay the total outstanding due on the card. Hence, it’s mandatory to clear the dues to cancel the card.
Any unused reward points on the credit card should be redeemed within 45 days of card closure. The points can be redeemed to clear the dues on the card or against any gift vouchers listed in the bank’s rewards catalogue.
After raising a request for card closure, the dues on the credit card cannot be transferred to another credit card.

When Can Citibank Cancel A Credit Card?
Not only that a Citibank credit card users can close their credit card at any point of time, the bank possesses equal rights to terminate the membership of a cardholder for various reasons. The bank at its discretion can cancel all or some privileges of the credit card at any time without even giving any notice to the cardholder or without providing any reason.
Some instances when Citibank can cancel a credit card, as mentioned in its terms and policies, are as follows.
If the Citibank credit card remains inactive without any transactions or not in operation for more than 12 months or for a prolonged period of time, the bank may exercise its right to cancel the card along with other credit cards linked to it such as any add-on or supplementary cards issued to family member of the cardholder.
The bank may also close the card without notice if the payments are not made after 30 days from the due date, cheque bounces, improper use of credit card for foreign exchange trading and other illegal activities, discrepancy in the documents or information provided during application, not providing required documents as mandated by the law, the bank, the RBI, or other regulations, etc.
How To Re-active Or Re-apply For A Closed Citibank Credit Card
Request to reactivate a closed Citibank credit card can be raised if the Citibank cardholder cancels the card by himself/herself. However, the request to re-active the card will be processed as per Citibank’s internal policies and the decision to approve or reject the request is at the sole discretion of the bank.
To re-active a cancelled Citibank Credit Card, the cardholder should send a written request to the bank along with a copy of identity proof and a passport size photograph. The documents acceptable as identity proof include PAN card, Aadhaar card, passport, driving license and Voters ID. The written request along with the aforementioned documents can be sent either through e-mail or postal mail.

With CITI bank, I am holding the CITI premier miles card and it almost having a discounts on coupons. They keep on mailing me about the offers. The given credit limit is Rs. 57000 which is fine for me. It has a app and everything can be handled with the help of it.
