The Indian car market is bustling with around 30 new cars set to be launched for the year 2016-17. Some cars have already hit the markets, such as the Toyota Innova Crysta. With the festive season blooming, car makers are geared up to launch their new models and new versions across all segments. This Diwali, a few of the much-awaited cars will hit the showrooms.
This festive season, the Maruti Baleno RS is expected to be launched. The concept car was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. It featured a body kit along with a roof spoiler. The car is equipped with a 1.0 litre booster jet petrol engine which can churn out power of 110 bhp. The expected price tag is in the range of Rs.8 lakhs to Rs.9 lakhs. The car will hit the market to rival the Fiat Punto Abarth and the Volkswagen Polo GT.
French car manufacturer, Renault, will be launching the new Renault Kwid 1.0 L AMT soon. The car will be packed with a 1.0 litre engine mated to a 5-speed Easy-R AMT gearbox. Although the 1.0 L variant is already available in the market, the AMT version is expected to hit the showrooms soon. The price tag pinned to this car is estimated to be within Rs.4.2 lakhs to Rs.4.8 lakhs. The competition for this car will include the Hyundai Eon and the Maruti Alto K10.
The Vento is receiving a facelift and is expected to be launched this festive season. The stylish sedan will be equipped with a 1.5 litre diesel engine. The styling updates will include a new set of LED headlamps, a redesigned bonnet, a new front bumper and a bigger three-slat front grille. The fresh Vento was seen sporting black alloy wheels. On the inside, the car will have two options of petrol and diesel. The petrol version will have a choice of a 1.6 litre engine with a power output of 104 bhp, or a 1.2 litre turbo engine with power of 103 bhp. The diesel variant will have a 1.5 litre TDI engine. All variants with be equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox, with an option of a 7-speed DSG unit. The expected price is in the range of Rs.7.75 to Rs.11.89 lakhs. The Vento will rival the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna.
Tata Motors is all geared up to launch the Tata Tiago AMT to meet the demand for automatic cars in the Indian market. The car will be launched only with a petrol fuel option, however, the diesel variants are expected to hit the showrooms by early 2017. The car will compete with the Maruti Celerio AMT and the Maruti Wagon R AMT. The estimated price tag is Rs.4.60 lakhs to Rs.5.50 lakhs.
One of the most awaited cars, the Next Gen Toyota Fortuner will be launched soon. The SUV will be based on an all-new platform which is expected to make it lighter, spacious and stylish. The car gets a more aggressive look on the exterior. The car will get an option of a 2.7 litre petrol engine and a 2.8 litre diesel engine. There will be options for automatic and manual transmission. Toyota will also offer an option of the AWD system with the new fortuner. The estimated price of the new model is Rs.25 lakhs to Rs.30 lakhs. The car will be out in the market and will take on competition from the Ford Endeavour and the Mitsubishi Pajero.
The Maruti Ignis is a mini SUV expected to hit the markets soon. The car will be available at Maruti Nexa outlets. It will be powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine or a 1.3 litre diesel engine. Prices are expected to range between Rs.5.5 lakhs to Rs.7.5 lakhs. The car will rival the Datsun Go Cross and the Mahindra KUV 100. It is rumoured that the Ignis might replace the Ritz.
The Hexa is a remodel of the Aria with some of the features heavily altered and more attractive features added on. The much awaited crossover SUV was spotted ahead of its launch sporting a beefy front bumper, muscular lines, a black chrome grille, LED Daytime running lights and projector headlamps. The design of the Hexa was made public a while back and the expected launch date falls in October 2016. The car will get a 2.2. Litre diesel engine. The price for the Tata Hexa is estimated to touch Rs.13 lakhs to Rs.18 lakhs. The Hexa will be met with competition from the Mahindra XUV 500.
Apart from these new upcoming launches, more are expected to launch by the end of this year including the New Honda Accord and the Chevrolet Trailblazer Facelift. Early 2017 will see the launches of the new Nissan Micra, Isuzu MU-X, Chevrolet Beat Activ, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Tata Nexon.
